Air Cargo Africa 2017 aims at building tomorrow’s market today

Air Cargo Africa 2017, the fourth edition of the biennial air cargo industry conference and exhibition, themed around ‘Airfreight in Africa – Building tomorrow’s market today’ is set to focus strongly on shippers with the introduction of an exclusive Air Shippers’ Forum.

The 2017 event, which will take place from 21 to 23 February next year at the Emperors Palace Casino Convention Resort, provides a platform for the global air cargo community at large to explore and strengthen networking corridors with the African continent.

The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Industry Forecast 2013-2017 identifies Africa as the fastest growing air cargo region globally, with an expected growth rate of 3.2 percent for international freight volumes.
Moreover, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stating that Sub-Saharan Africa has grown at an annual rate of 4.8 percent over the last five years, beating other emerging regions, it is clear that Africa is a critical region for the global air cargo market.

“The support for Air Cargo Africa from the global cargo community underscores its significance in adding value to the global trade balance, thereby fostering economic prosperity within the African continent,” says Priyo Patra, Director-Events, STAT Media Group. ”The event is recognised as playing a key role in bringing together all leaders within this industry and allowing them to assess the growing prospects of the African market.

“Shippers constitute such a significant link within the air freight supply chain that we felt it was important to establish a forum geared specifically towards them at this year’s show; bringing together the top exporting companies within the pharma, humanitarian aid, perishables and automotive industries with the relevant regulatory authorities.”

South African Airways Cargo (SAA Cargo), the airfreight division of South African Airways, has been selected as the 2017 event’s official “Airfreight and Airline Partner” and will be a Diamond Sponsor. Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground and cargo handling services to the aviation industry, has also confirmed its status as Platinum Sponsor for the third consecutive time.
